Translucent one-component acrylic resin for vertical stone carpeting
Caution: When opened, the resin is white, but once applied, it becomes translucent during polymerization.
Monocomponent acrylic resin allowing the vertical laying of marble and quartz granules with a grain size not exceeding 5 to 6 mm.
Main uses: vertical interior and exterior stone carpeting.
With 3 mm aggregates, the thickness of the coating will be about 5 to 6 mm, i.e. +/- 7.5 to 9 kg/m².
With 4 mm aggregates, the coating thickness will be approximately 6 to 8 mm, i.e. +/- 9 to 12.5 kg/m².
Substrate preparation: Substrates must be dry, free of dust, grease, oil, moisture, curing agent, loose or loose parts and must not be subject to rising damp by capillary action. Stripping is done by mechanical action (sanding, planing, shot-peening, diamond grinding). The use of our solvent-free epoxy primer POXYFIRST is strongly recommended on very porous surfaces such as plaster and plasterboard.
Preparation of mixes: This resin is only used on walls (interior or exterior) and must not be immersed.
The quantity of resin to be used for mixing is 12% (± 2%) of the weight of the aggregates, i.e. 0.120 Kg of THIXOCRYLIC resin for 1Kg of aggregates. This proportion is given for an average aggregate granulometry of 4 mm.
Using a mixer (power 1200 W, 400 rpm - not on the right), mix the THIXOCRYLIC resin with the aggregates in a basin (bucket or dustbin) adapted to the total quantity.
Application: In order to create the adhesion of the final product, it is imperative to apply a coat of THIXOCRYLIC resin at a rate of 0.300 to 0.500 Kg/m² depending on the state of the substrate with a toothed squeegee or a wide brush.
Afterwards, without waiting for drying, spread the aggregate resin mixture on the support from bottom to top and tighten with a stainless steel smoothing machine. All the tools necessary for the application must be cleaned frequently with water because the dry resin no longer dissolves in the water and small skins can pollute the mixture and make application more difficult.
